Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced the India–America Connect Initiative, aimed at boosting digital and AI connectivity between India, the United States, and several Southern Hemisphere nations. The initiative includes the development of new subsea cable routes linking India with Singapore, Australia, and South Africa to enhance high-capacity data networks.
Speaking at the AI India Impact Summit 2026, Pichai also highlighted Google’s previously announced $15 billion AI investment in India, including a major AI hub in Visakhapatnam featuring gigawatt-scale computing and a subsea cable gateway.
Alongside infrastructure expansion, Google introduced a new AI Professional Certificate program to help individuals develop practical AI skills for the workplace. While eligibility details are yet to be released, the program aims to support workforce readiness as AI adoption accelerates globally.
